knot tying
this is an old shipping knot I learned long ago
the best thing about this knot is its all slip knots a few tugs and you got your rope back
using this knot to lift weight will cut the effort required to lift the weight in half
this is not a recommended knot for binding as the tension may be more then you realize
Step one
first we need a piece of rope tied to something at the top
the bottom can dangle at this point
to start the knot pull a loop in the rope
then twist the loop 2 full spins
|
Step two
pull a loop from below the twisted loop through the twisted loop
then pull it tight
when this is finished the lower loop you just pulled through makes the finished loop we'll be using as shown to the right
|
Step three
run the rope through the ring of the item your tying up, then back up and through the loop
pull it tight, lifting the item to the desired level
pinch the rope at the loop where the orange arrows are
Finally put a simple slip not in the rope to hold it
|
doubling the force again
if you need to reduce the effort required to lift even more this can be done by simply adding another loop in the rope |
